At Leatherland Photography, we believe that every child deserves to feel comfortable, seen, and celebrated. That’s why we are proud to offer photography sessions led by a photographer with specialist training in working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

1.

A Patient and Understanding Approach

Children with SEN require a unique approach, and our training ensures we understand how to create a supportive and nurturing environment during each session. Whether it’s adapting poses, taking extra breaks, or using calming techniques, we tailor our approach to meet your child’s needs.

2.

Sensory-Friendly Environment

Our studio is designed to be a sensory-friendly space, with calming colours, gentle lighting, and quiet areas where children can feel at ease. We aim to reduce sensory overload, ensuring a stress-free experience for both children and parents.

3.

Celebrating Every Child’s Unique Journey

Every child is unique, and our sessions are designed to celebrate that. We capture genuine expressions, playful moments, and the true personality of your child, ensuring that the photos reflect who they are.

4.

Confidence and Joy in Every Session

Our goal is to make every child feel confident and happy during their time with us. By creating a safe, understanding, and flexible environment, we ensure that each session is a positive and empowering experience for all.

1. what if there's no official diagnosis?

No official diagnosis is required to access a SEN session. Whether high functioning, or none verbal, all children deserve the opportunity for a supported session if they require one. Needs and challenges do. not change with a diagnosis, so what's important to us is delivering a tailored and meaningful experience

2. What if I don't want to share this information?

We will never force you to divulge anything that you don't want to. However, we offer a respectful, understanding and none judgmental environment for people to safely share this information with us. We recommend being as honest as you can, as the more information you share, the better we can adapt your session.

3. What experience do you have?

Misdiagnosed throughout her childhood and teen years with 'anxiety', our photographer was diagnosed with AuDHD at the age of 22. Our photographer understands first hand what it's like to deal with additional needs, as well as many loved ones and relatives also being neurodivergent on varying levels.

On top of real life experience, our photographer has attended specialist training courses for within the industry.

4. Do you cater to those with anxiety?

We certainly can. We understand that for a lot of people attending a photoshoot there may be a lot of questions and uncertainty. Even for those without a diagnosis, or those who don't consider themselves 'anxious', there may be some anxiety surrounding the unknown of  a photoshoot. Our consultations are the perfect time to ask any questions you may have. We have provided as much information as possible across the website so people feel adequately informed.

Our Studio page also offers lots of resources to help you feel informed before your session so you know what to expect.

We took our little boy for a cake smash, when we arrived he had only just woke up, Georgie gave him time to get use to the environment before starting the shoot, he was unsure at times, which Georgie engaged with him by playing and showing him what he needed to pretending to eat the cake, during this she went down to his level. The photos viewing was soon after which was hard to decide which photos we loved, as they all were great. Thank you again.

Georgie had so much patience with my little boy who was not in a cooperative mood and didn’t force him to do anything he didn’t want to do nor did she rush him she went at his pace and the whole atmosphere was so relaxed and cannot wait to go back for my daughters shoot in September
